Regional Profile

QCPCA Capricornia Region covers an area from Bowen in the north, south to Miriam Vale and west to Emerald. We have 171 State schools including Capricornia School of Distance Education and the new innovative Toolooa House (a purpose built full scale home) at Toolooa State High. In this very diverse region we spread through 2 of the Education Queensland Districts (Central Queensland and North Queensland) where approximately 45,844 students are enrolled.

We feel our region has a positive and proactive voice for our state school parents and students. The QCPCA Capricornia Region Council has two (2) weekend meetings per year, giving members the opportunity to put a face to the name and offer support. This year the AGM  and conference shall be held in Rockhampton July 30th -31st. Regional General Meetings have proven to be successful when held in different locations around the region. It is a chance to gather with other P&C members to share experiences and network ideas to make education in State Schools great.

Branch Network Meetings are held in Mackay regularly and are a wonderful opportunity for local P&Cs to share experiences and gain knowledge. We encourage and support P&C members to become empowered and supported in their roles on their P&C.

With Representatives across the region, we have the ability to present at local P&Cs to address concerns and issues if required, the most common topics: Tuckshop, Outside School Hours Care, and the roles of the executives and sub-committees. These issues will constantly be our challenge and it is important that knowledge and experiences are shared.

QCPCA Capricornia exists to provide support and guidance to P&Cs. Our aim is to provide P&Cs with the knowledge and tools to perform their valuable roles within State Schools and to ensure that all P&Cs understand their rights and responsibilities. QCPCA Capricornia provides P&C with a voice that allows issues to be heard at a local, regional and state level.
