P&C Operations Manual
Introduction
How to Use Manual
Sections of Manual
P&C a vital link in school community
The P&C Association provides a vital service to the school community. The functions and the powers of the P&C are explained in detail within this manual and all P&C Executive members are advised to familiarise themselves with this information.
The P&C is a Statutory Body established to provide the necessary link between the parents, caregivers and community members and the school and students.
The role of the P&C and the role and responsibility of its officers and members should not be understated. We encourage you to be an active P&C member, and know your rights and your responsibilities by reading and understanding the information provided in Section 1, 2 & 3 of this manual.
Manual to Assist P&Cs
This manual has been compiled to assist all P&C Association Executives to manage the affairs of the P&C Association efficiently and accurately.
There is very little new information provided in this manual. Most is tried and true practices already used by many P&C Associations.
Thank you to the Regional Councils and various organisations who have helped by providing information and advice in the compilation of each section. Thank you also to the members of QCPCA and P&C Associations who spent many hours proof reading and verifying the information was relevant and easy to use.
Finally, this manual is designed to be a living document. Information provided will change and updates of this manual will be provided on a regular basis. Along with the information provided in this manual, the P&C Association should keep a copy of their current approved constitution and any by-laws, meeting procedures or rules the P&C may have adopted for their own school situation. This then makes one handy reference guide for the P&C Executive and can be passed on from one executive to the next.
QCPCA hope this manual will reaffirm the things your P&C is doing well and help with areas where your P&C may need assistance.
This manual is broken up into sections relating to the various operations P&C Associations may have responsibility for.
Each section contains relevant information about that area of P&C business.
Each section has a number of sample forms provided to assist and guide P&Cs.
The Fact Sheet section will develop and grow as fact sheets are produced on the various issues and areas of responsibility.
There may be words and phrases used that are unfamiliar to your P&C members. The glossary provides an explanation of many such terms. But you can add to the glossary with those terms specifically highlighted in your P&C.
