New P&C Tuckshop Award
P&C Associations should be aware that there is a new P&C Retail Employees Award that will come into effect mid January 2004.
The P&C Retail Employees Award replaces the Parents and Citizens Associations? Retail Employees Industrial Agreement 1993. P&C Associations will have a transition period in which to determine appropriate changes to current letters of appointment and/or employment arrangements for staff.
Main changes that P&C Associations should be aware of in relation to their current employees are:-
-
A tiered pay scale will be introduced based on qualifications
-
Casual Loading will be at 25%
-
Casuals will only be able to work up to 20 hours per week as opposed the existing 30 hours per week
-
Volunteer/Convenor will now be called Convenor Partially Unpaid
-
Clear definitions: eg employees and exempted schools
Changes that will affect new employment arrangements are:-
ยท Qualifications: in the new award there will be clear pay scales, which shall encourage employees to gain qualifications.
Sample Letters of Appointment will be available on the QCPCA website at www.qcpca.org.au in early February.
The introduction of this award provides an opportunity for P&C Associations to seek Industrial Relations advice on employment issues and also broadens the choice of employer organisations that can be accessed through membership - ie CSEAQ - 3852 5177, QRTSA - 3352 6088, Commerce Qld - 3842 2244, Wageline - 1300 369 945, etc.
More information will be available to all P&C Associations on Employer Unions, through Parent Talk and this website, in the new year.
