QCPCA recently held its Annual Conference and AGM in Gympie. I thank members for their support in my role as President and I will continue to work for your P & C and the children of State Schools. To take forward proposed changes and issues, meetings have been planned with the relevant government agencies on your behalf. With the number of meetings already planned the next couple of months are going to be extremely busy.
Some issues on the table at present are:
Food Safety Equivalent Administrative Arrangements (EAA) in State Schools.
This item has been on the agenda for a little while. We have been receiving lots of enquiries from schools regarding food safety and specifically EAA related questions. P & Cs have been receiving advertising for training options. We have arranged meetings with relevant agencies on your behalf to discuss what is proposed and what the likely outcomes will be for P & Cs. Our advice at this time is not to partake in any training that is being offered. Where P & Cs actually “fit” into the model is still to be finalized. We have meetings planned on your behalf and I will keep you updated via our web page.Q Build
As indicated in my last message, we had made contact with QBuild in an attempt to cut costs of projects in schools. The meeting was very productive and they now have a phone number and email access that you are able to contact if you believe the quote that you have received is not reasonable. We have been invited to be part of that review. There is more information in this edition from QBuild. If you have a complaint with QBuild contact them either by telephone on 1800 654 625 or email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. QCPCA will continue to advocate for full time Teacher Aides in Prep classes. During question and answer time with the Minister at our recent conference, delegates gave a clear indication to the Minister that we want full time Teachers Aides in these classes.
Some of the agencies that meetings are planned for before the end of the year -
- Queensland Health
- QBuild
- Australian Council of State Schools Organisations ( ACSSO) National Conference in Brisbane
- Joint parent Committee meeting with the Minister
- Facilities - Department of Education, Training and the Arts
- Assistant Director General - Department of Education, Training and the Arts
- The Director General - Department of Education, Training and the Arts
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a safe holiday season. Best wishes to all students who are finishing their school education and I hope that you are successful in whatever you choose to do in the future. Well done to the parents who have supported their children for twelve long years.
Merry Christmas to you all - as we are all looking forward to a break.
Take care
Margaret Black
State President.
