Hello and welcome. As you may have noticed I have just been elected to the position of State President of QCPCA. I'm still trying to get used to that notion after three years as State Treasurer.
This is an exciting time in education with the Australian Curriculum rolling out over the next few years, further outcomes and consultation from the Flying Start paper and of course, our own organisational review to name a few.
These items will present their own changes and challenges along the way and I am confident that QCPCA can respond appropriately and effectively to achieve successful outcomes.
I have been part of QCPCA for 13 years now at different levels and it is my firm belief that I am part of a truly great organisation that really does make a positive difference to the educational environment of our children.
I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the former President, Mrs Margaret Black, who has dedicated more than 30 years to students and education. She has left behind some big shoes to fill.
I would also like to recognise the staff at QCPCA State Office and Conference Planning Committee to thank them for the enormous effort that went into making our AGM and State Conference in Cairns one of the most successful in our 60 year history.
Then there is each and every one of you that volunteer. Giving so much of your time, effort and yourselves to improve the educational landscape for students at state schools. Volunteering is truly a wonderful gift to give and is much appreciated by many. THANK YOU.
They say that life is not measured by the number of breaths you take but by the moments that take your breath away. Being part of QCPCA and my P&C have provided me with numerous moments that have not only taken my breath away but stopped me in my tracks completely. I know that these moments don't happen on their own by magic but by the dedication, enthusiasm, support, time, effort and genuine love for what they do by people who care about kids and education.
QCPCA has built strong partnerships with many stakeholders over the years and continues to have voice that is both credible and valued at all levels. This has been brought about by hard work, listening, doing what is right, being as honest, open and accountable as possible. These are all values which make up part of my work ethic and values base. I intend to keep QCPCA on this same path of growing and strengthening partnerships for the good of our children and their education.
I welcome the State Executive for 2010/2011 and look forward to working together with our stakeholders and affiliates throughout the coming year.
Kind Regards,
Margaret Leary
