QCPCA members have voted at a Special Meeting this morning to change the current structure of the organisation.

Over the past year you will have received correspondence from QCPCA keeping you up to date with the Organisational Review.  Thank you to everyone that took part in the process, your feedback has been invaluable.

After much research and consultation, QCPCA held a Special Meeting for our members on 9 September 2011 to vote on whether QCPCA Inc should stay as an Incorporated Association or become a Company Limited by Guarantee known as QCPCA Ltd trading as P&Cs Qld.  The meeting voted in favour of QCPCA becoming a company limited by guarantee.

What does this change mean for P&Cs?

  • QCPCA will still support P&Cs
  • QCPCA will still advocate on behalf of State Schools
  • QCPCA will still offer insurance
  • This change will affect how QCPCA does business. P&Cs remain as Statutory Organisations under the jurisdiction of the Education Minister and the Education Act 2006. This change does not affect P&C structures.

What will change?

  • The name 'QCPCA' may change
  • There will be some changes to organisational structures
  • The new CLbG is accountable  to the Australian Securities & Investments Commissions (ASIC) rather than the Office Fair of Trading (OFT)
  • The new structure will be a company that is limited by guarantee - a full explanation was given at the information sessions prior to the Special Meeting

In summary this change will affect how QCPCA does business. P&Cs will carry out their activities as normal.

The QCPCA State Executive has now become the interim board and will commence planning for the change.  The year ahead will be a busy one and includes the drafting of regulations.  QCPCA will begin consultation with our members over the form of these in the next few months (information to follow soon).

Once again we would like to thank our members for their feedback and also extend our gratitude to our Honourary Solicitor, Bill McMillan, Project Manager, Margaret Black, State Executive and State Office for their hard work over the last year.
