In relation to the flooding in North Queensland and the fires in Victoria, P&Cs are reminded of the following:-
Monies raised by a P&C, through fundraising or other means, is to be solely used to enhance the educational outcomes of the students currently at the school. Education Queensland does permit schools and staff to raise funds outside of the auspice of the P&C Association, but the extent of that fundraising is to be limited to the provisions of the Charitable and Non-Gaming Act 1999.

It has been brought to our attention that the Office of Fair Trading (Queensland) have certain requirements for legally using a business name in Queensland. These requirements impact on the use of a name for the Outside School Hours Care Service operated under the sponsorship of another entity, association or organisation.

State Schools are not bound by the Food Act 2006, however, there are Equivalent Administrative Arrangements being developed that may require them to achieve similar levels of compliance as part of their duty of care.
